NSF
National Science Foundation Information
The standard procedure for NSF proposals are as follows:
- Prepare a brief description or abstract of your proposed project (approximately 250 words).
- Make an appointment to speak to either Melisa Mendez, Deputy Director of SPAR or Ana Alas Iglesias, Sponsored Program Coordinator, prior to starting the submission process. It is never too early in the process to discuss your proposal. Deans, chairs, and colleagues are other good sources of information or counsel.
- Read the NSF Program solicitation guidelines carefully and fully understand all of the requirements.
- Register for the Research.gov System.
- Prepare a proposal draft and ask a colleague to read it and make helpful suggestions. SPAR can help you identify seasoned grant writers in your department or school.
- Using the budget template, you must work with the Office of Sponsored Programs to develop your budget that reflects your budgetary needs for your project as well as to ensure that your budget request adheres to the solicitation guidelines.
- Circulate the Internal Approval Coversheet along with your proposal and budget to obtain approvals from your Chair (if applicable) and Dean then submit it to SPAR prior to the submission of your proposal. (This should be done no later than two days before the deadline) .
- Submit your proposal via Research.gov.
